WALLINGFORD – Marjorie Alice (Hersey) Rice, 95, died Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Masonicare of Wallingford. She was the loving wife of the late Neil Rice. Marjorie was born April 19, 1923 in Pembroke, Maine, daughter of the late Philip and Gladys (Wilbur) Hersey. This past April her birthday was celebrated at Masonicare at a special party with family and friends. It was a happy time for her.
Marjorie graduated from Pembroke high school and worked for many years as a nurse’s aide in the maternity ward at the World War II Veterans Memorial Hospital. She was a wonderful caregiver and well respected by those she worked with.
Marjorie had a green thumb and enjoyed growing plants. She also enjoyed going to tag sales and was a collector of many things (Hummels, china, miniature perfume bottles, beanie babies, & coins). She was also a wonderful cook. Marjorie enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox, and UConn Women’s Basketball. Her family is thankful for the wonderful care she received at Pond Ridge North, The Argonauta and finally from the skilled nursing staff at Worcester 3. She received extra special attention and care from Linda Jenkins for which her family is especially grateful.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter Brenda Lunny and her husband John of Wallingford, granddaughters Maura Cautela and husband Salvatore of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Nicole Seguljic and husband Tom of Kattskill Bay, N.Y., and her grandson William Bilyak and wife Julie of Willington, CT., as well as great grandchildren, Sean Cautela, Colby and Katie Seguljic and Taylor and Kyle Bilyak.
