Marion W. Castings, 99, of Newton died on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at Nelson Manor.

Marion, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Walton) Yeomans, was born on April 14, 1920 in Manchester, England.  She grew up in Manchester and served in the Women’s Air Force during WWII.  On September 4, 1944, Marion was united in marriage with Everett W. Castings in Manchester.  After the birth of their son, John, they moved to the United States and made their home in Jasper County, Iowa living in Reasnor and Newton. Everett and Marion would welcome two more children, Mike and Diane.  Despite her 70 years of living in the United States she always maintained her English accent and was affectionately referred to as “The English Lady”. Using her fashion training she received in England, Marion worked in clothing retail in Newton for many years.

Marion is survived by her sons, John (Sheryl) Castings of Waukee and Mike (Laura) Castings of Newton; daughter, Diane (Robert) Uhlig of Boalsburg, Pennsylvania; her 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; her great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Ellen Yeomans and Lucille Caughey; and her many nieces and nephews, including nephew, Bill Caughey.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett Castings; granddaughter, Lindsay Fitzgerald; great-grandson, Daniel Castings; and her five siblings.
