Those left to honor Tex’s memory include his wife, Marge of Newton; son, Steven Horstman of Newton; three daughters–Teresa (Ron) Bougher of Des Moines, Carrie (Ty) Turner of Des Moines, and Julie (Ron) King of Muncie, Indiana; eight grandchildren–Dawn Filson, Rusty Horstman, Fred Horstman, Jimmie King, Lucas Smith, Danielle Smith, Nichole Bougher, and Ronnie Bougher; six great-grandchildren; and his sister, Leona “Gernatha” Clement of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Selena (Duffy) Horstman; and two brothers, Neal and Conrad Horstman.
Tex was a graduate of Newton High School and had worked at WinPower. He and Marge had managed the Terrace Lodge. For the last eleven years, they have managed Midtown Cafe.
He enjoyed cooking, clock collecting, and going to the casinos. He loved animals. He was very friendly and enjoyed giving to others.
