Marion was born on March 24, 1923 to Lawrence and Mary Spencer of Clarion, IA. Marion married Joyce Arlene Edwards on September 29th, 1946. They operated a farm at Dows, IA until 1959. At that time, they moved to Neillsville, WI. He was one of the founders of the Happy Hollow 4-H Club and served as the leader. He later took over driving a truck from his father and eventually began driving a semi-truck for Schneider Transport, Inc. Schneider honored him with a plaque to recognize one million miles of driving accident-free.
