Jean Miller, 86, died peacefully on March 21, 2021 in Plymouth sister, Deb, and brother-in-law, Leo were at her is the beloved sister of Deborah Muido and brother-in-law Dr. Leo Muido of Plymouth, MA., her brother John V. Miller and sister-in-law Gail Miller of Ilion N.Y., and sister Mary Ellen (Miller) Hill and brother-in-law Charles Hill of Sayville, is remembered with great love by eight nieces and nephews, several first and second cousins and her current loyal and faithful feline companion ~ “Maggie the Cat.”Jean has a wide-ranging circle of friends in California, Washington D.C. Maryland and Virginia which had been her long-term place of residence until November was born In Utica New York On Jan. 11, 1935Her parents were John Anthony and Gertrude Elizabeth (Oehler) Miller She graduated from LeMoyne College, Syracuse N.Y. and also pursued graduate coursework at Boston College Graduate School of Social enjoyed a rich and varied professional career largely centered in the field of worked at the National Institute of Education, HEW, and Institute of Educational Leadership, Washington D.C. She retired in 2006 from a leadership position as Director of Council of Chief State School Officers. This non-profit established a consortium of researchers, and teacher educators, of State Departments of education across every state in the U.S. Her task force implemented the master plan which established the guidelines for teacher performance and licensing in every ’s volunteer activities included serving as treasurer for the National Coalition for Women and Girls in Education and the National Women’s Political Caucus, Washington, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2006 and she battled this affliction with determination up to days before her loved antiquing, entertaining in her gracious home, Tai chi,dining out with friends, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Sauvignon blanc wine, and any form of chocolate watch word in life was “We can make this work!
