Marion Nicholson of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away June 25, 2011 at the age of 95. She was born on November 21, 1915, in Rush City, Minnesota. Minneapolis was her home until her move to Arizona in 1977. Marion was a medical office administrator until her retirement. She will join her dear husband Ed, who passed away in 1997 after 60 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her six loving sisters. Described in her high school yearbook as “perpetually good natured”, Marion lived up to this standard every day of her life. In her earlier years, she was an active athlete, loving swimming, tennis, and golf. Later in life, she was an avid fan of all sports, enjoying watching tennis, golf, baseball, softball, hockey, and ice skating. As a young mother, she tirelessly supported her daughters’ ice skating careers, making dozens of costumes and shepherding them to endless practices and competitions. She will be remembered by her grandchildren for leading them, year after year, in a rousing chorus of “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad” while tubing together at the lake during summers in Minnesota. Youthful even into her nineties, she continued to enjoy hot tubbing with all of her great- grandchildren. She was dearly loved and will be missed greatly by all. She is survived by her daughter and son-in law, Joan and Bob Knowlton, her daughter Kay Newhouse; grandchildren, Tom (Stephanie) Knowlton, Jackie (John) Lopez-Ona, Debbie (Chris) Hodge, Julie (Bryan) Siegfried and Nancy Newhouse; great-grandchildren, Bobby, Matthew and Bradley Knowlton; Emilia, Johnny, and Mariana Lopez-Ona; Christopher, Andrew, and Nicholas Hodge; Christopher, Jack, and Emily Siegfried and Amy Nowack; many caring nieces and nephews. Our special thanks to Angie and Angela from Hands of Care assisted living for their wonderful care in the last three months.
