Marilyn was born in Terre Haute on May 18, 1948 to Richard Earl Kirkpatrick and Grace Irene Kehoe Kirkpatrick. Marilyn retired from Union Hospital where she was a medical secretary for over 25 years, after retirement Marilyn worked at AP&S in Oncology.
