Marilyn Ann Lumsdon, 88, passed away Monday, July 12, 2021, at Brio of Johnston, IA, formerly of Urbandale, Iowa.
Marilyn was born June 14, 1933, in Ottumwa, IA, to Albert and Louise (Anderson) Burnaugh. She married Robert Lumsdon on July 5, 1953, in Ottumwa, Iowa. Together they enjoyed 46 years of marriage.
Marilyn worked for Younkers for many years. She also volunteered with Lutheran Church of Hope and at the Iowa Methodist Gift Shop over the years. But her true passion was her family and she was an exemplary homemaker.
She enjoyed making ceramics and cross stitching. Marilyn played Bridge with her friends and family. Over the years, she traveled extensively, even traveling as far as England where she was able to meet her childhood pen pal. Marilyn liked to entertain and was an avid Hawkeye Fan.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Marcia (Dennis) Tolbert of Salisbury, NC, Karen (Doug) Carper of Ankeny, IA, Kristen (Curt) Hartman of Grimes, IA; son, Kevin Lumsdon of Palm Springs, CA; brother, Jerry (Pat) Burnaugh of Scottsdale, AZ; sister, Debbie (Dave) Lee of Milliken, CO; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents; and infant sister, Kathy.
