Marilyn Lichtenbarger of South Bend, went home to be with the Lord on August 3, 2014. She passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones at the Hospice House in South Bend.

Marilyn was born July 21, 1932 to the late Fred and Helen (Main) Hostetler from Lydick, IN. She graduated New Carlisle High School in 1949. On October 22, 1949, she was united in marriage to Albert Lichtenbarger who survives her. Together they farmed on Brick Road and raised a family.

Marilyn loved and followed the Lord Jesus Christ. She was a member of Community Evangelical Free Church, Niles, MI. Other involvements included participation in Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) for 33 years and missions work involving trips to the Redbird Mission in Kentucky, work at a children’s hospital in Haiti, and spreading the Lord’s Word in Russia . Marilyn loved to read and learn. She was an enthusiastic piano player, master gardener and 35 year member of the Farm Bureau Board. Memories of Marilyn’s exceptional cooking and wonderful pies will reside with those who knew and loved her.

Marilyn was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter Karen (Jim) Nelson of Carmel, IN, sons David (Janette) Lichtenbarger, Richard (Barbara) Lichtenbarger and Steven (Helen) Lichtenbarger all of South Bend, sister Dorothy (Lloyd) Lempke of Battle Ground, IN, brother John (Julia) Hostetler of South Bend, grandchildren Russell, Kevin, Rachel, Melissa, Joshua, David II, Ashley, Kenneth, Luke, Rebekah and Laura, and 22 great-grandchildren. Marilyn was preceded in death by her brother Raymond Hostetler.
