Marilyn A. Zabel, age 88, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Edenbrook Nursing Home in Wisconsin Rapids.

Marilyn was born October 1, 1933 in Wisconsin Rapids to Irwin and Mary (Rickman) Buss.  She graduated from Immanuel Lutheran School and Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids.  She married William “Bud” Zabel on September 17, 1955 in Wisconsin Rapids.  They were blessed with 54 years of marriage and two children, Rick and Cindy.  Bud passed away on December 23, 2009.

Marilyn worked in the main office in the filing department at Consolidated Papers Inc. in Wisconsin Rapids.  Following her marriage, she was a full-time homemaker and later a devoted caretaker for her husband, Bud.

Marilyn was a firm believer that her faith is what carried her through life, especially the past couple of years with the challenges she faced.  She was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids, serving on the Ministry of Stewardship.  She was also active at Immanuel Lutheran School, serving on the PTL committee and as a room mother for Rick and Cindy.  She enjoyed being outside and loved to travel.

Marilyn is survived by her son, Rick Zabel of Wisconsin Rapids; son-in-law, David Mannchen of Springfield, IL; grandchildren: Eric Zabel of Wisconsin Rapids and his children Brantley and Meadow, Christopher Mannchen of Springfield, IL, and Michael Mannchen of Gainsville, FL; brother-in-law, Richard Zabel of Wisconsin Rapids; and sisters-in-law: Beatrice (Donald) Zieher of Port Edwards, Arlette Buss of Wisconsin Rapids, and Ginny Abrahamson of Green Bay.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Bud; daughter Cindy Mannchen; brothers: Wayne and Harlan Buss; and sister Carol (Donald) Huchthausen.

Memorials may be designated to Immanuel Lutheran Church and School in Wisconsin Rapids.
