Marie I. Hewitt, 87, of Cherry, died at 1:37 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley. Mrs. Hewitt was born Dec. 30, 1919, in Ladd, to Gaetano and Mary (Castille) Tonozzi. She was employed at Westclox for 30 years. She married Clifford Chee Chee Hewitt on Sept. 5, 1942, in Ladd.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Cherry. She is survived by 1 brother, Robert (Katie) Tonozzi of Ladd; and 3 sisters, Frances Lynch of Peru, Betty Turpen of Ladd and Irene Garland of North Port Charlotte, Fla., and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Nov. 5, 1999; 1 son, Guy Allen Hewitt on Jan. 30, 1987; 4 brothers; and 7 sisters.
