1925-2015

  Our Mother passed away Friday September 12, 2015. She was at peace as she was received in the arms of her momma and Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Mother was funny, clever, courageous, and forgiving. She was born in LaGrange Georgia on February 26, 1925. In 1943 she was the most popular of her class and a four year cheerleader. In the early 50’s Marie was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, as well as a past president of the ladies auxiliary of the VFW Albert/ Jay/Perry post.  In February 1958, in FWB, FL Marie was a furniture store owner. In 1970 she was the FWB ladies auxiliary follies queen. Marie was a past president of the VFW ladies auxiliary post 11367. She was an original member of the FWB/Geneva River Rats and the “old” FWB hospital coffee shop employee. She and husband George T.  bought property in Walton County in 1968 and as a young widow moved there in 1977 to live happily ever after.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kay McClendon Olson, her husband, George T. McClendon, and her son in law, James F. Thomas. She is survived by Jann McClendon (Mal) Warren, Donna J. Thomas, Carol McClendon, and George E. (Betty) McClendon; grandchildren, Lori Olson (Jerome) Senn, Angela Sunseri (Simon Hassler), Joshua M. (Heather) McClendon; great grandchildren, Lillian Hassler and Cara McClendon.  Family companions Rex and Hugh.
