Marie Recker, 90, of Algona, Iowa passed away on May 14, 2017 at Windsor Manor in Algona. Marie Amelia Recker, the daughter of Leo and Emma (Elsbecker) Hellman, was born on October 6, 1926 in Bancroft, Iowa. She attended St. John’s School in Bancroft. On June 28, 1948 Marie was united in marriage with Alvin Recker at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bancroft. Marie enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards with the Round Robin Club, music, dancing, gardening, raising flowers, crocheting and making quilts, which she made many of. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, St. Benedict Guild, Catholic Daughters of America and Round Robin Card Club.
Left to cherish Marie’s memory is her children, William Recker of St. Charles, Illinois, Ronald (Carol) Recker of Maple Park, Illinois, Gary (Deb) Recker of LuVerne, Marilyn (Raymond) Recker Riley of Woodbury, Minnesota, Dean Recker of Nashville, Tennessee and Darrel (Betty) Recker of Ypsilanti, Michigan; five grandchildren and brothers, Albert Hellman of Bancroft and Dennis Hellman of Bancroft. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son in infancy, Donald Recker; husband, Alvin in 2010; brothers, Elmer, Arnold, Clarence and Art Hellman; sisters, Louise Hellman & Sr. Irene Hellman OSF and daughter-in-law, Teresa Recker.
