Marie R., age 87, of Havertown, formerly of Belmont Hills passed away quietly on May 6th, 2019.Beloved wife of the late Joseph L. Jr., (1980), loving mother of the late Stephen J., Grandmother of the late Joseph L. Rotondo, sister of the late Rita Nyce and sister-in-law of the late is survived by her loving children; Joseph L. III (Florence) and Michael J. (Cynthia), Diane Pernaci (Dominic), Kathleen M. Di Cicco (Francis), Rose R. Spiller (Edward), and daughter-in-law, Lisa Rotondo. She is also survived by her brother, Anthony Riccardi, her 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.Family and long-time friends cannot remember Marie without fondly recalling the huge, epic family dinners she cooked, and her love of baking. She has created some incredibly elaborate cakes over the years! When her health no longer allowed her to indulge in these favorite past-times, she found enjoyment in doing all kinds of puzzles, especially crosswords and cryptograms. She also realized that the best part of those family dinners was not so much the food, as it was just being together. She was thrilled for any and every opportunity she had to spend time with her family.Marie overcame so much in her life. She lost her mother at a very young age, she was widowed at 48, her son, Steve, died from leukemia, and her grandson, Joey, passed away unexpectedly from a brain tumor. She also battled back from throat cancer and a shattered shin. Through it all, she showed her strength and resilience to persevere and move forward for the sake of her children. They are all grateful that she no longer has to fight but can finally rest in the arms of Jesus.
