Marie L. Mejia, 94, passed away January 18, 2008 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Born in Newark, NJ, she lived in Brooklyn, NY until moving to Fanwood in 1952 where she resided for 53 years, then moving to Cranford to live with family and in 2006 moving with her family to Raleigh, NC.
Mrs. Mejia was a secretary for W.R. Grace & Co., N.Y.C. She was a member of the Fanwood Women’s Club and Garden Club of Fanwood for 30 years until her illness in the late 1990’s.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, George L. Mejia who passed away in February of 2004.
Mrs. Mejia was the beloved mother of Nancy Brownlee-Biro & her husband Joseph A. Biro; loving grandmother to Jeffrey A. Brownlee, Chief Petty Officer, United States Navy & his wife Theresa of Chesapeake, Virginia, Kevin T. Brownlee, Gunnery Sergeant, United States Marine Corps. & his wife Miriam of Hampstead, North Carolina and Kristin L. Brownlee of Phoenix, Arizona; seven great-grandchildren, Dylan, Andrew, Reagan, Jakob, Sierra Marie, Niklas and Kennedi. She was the Aunt to Charles Coquet, Jacqueline Coquet-Moran, Robert Coquet and Louise Coquet-Wardell.
