Margaret “Marie” Harrison Hunsucker, 83, of Macon, GA, passed away November 10, 2022.  Marie was born December 18, 1938 in the family home in Concord, NC to the late Woodrow Wilson Harrison and the late Margaret Collins Harrison.

Survivors include her son, Tony Hunsucker and wife Brenda of Pickens, SC; daughter, Connie Phillips of Concord, NC; grandchildren, Jason Hunsucker and wife Jennifer; Kyle Hunsucker; Spencer Phillips and wife Stephanie; and Car Phillips; great grandchildren, Braden Gosnell, Tyler Hunsucker, Josie Hunsucker, Jacob Hunsucker, Skylar Daigle, Bentley Daigle, Vivian Phillips; and her sisters, Delilah Rice of Sebring, FL and Iris Rhinehardt of North Myrtle Beach, SC.

Marie grew up in Concord and graduated from Winecoff High School in 1957.  Shortly after graduation, she began what would be her 64 year marriage to her high school sweetheart, Hank who preceded her in death in 2021.  Hank’s job with Southern Railway took them to Georgia and while there, they had two children.  The railroad then took them to South Carolina where Marie studied elementary education, graduating from Limestone College in the Class of 1969.  She was very active during her time at Limestone as a member of Kappa Delta Epsilon sorority, the Orientation Committee for Big Sisters, and Vice President of the Day Women’s Association.  She continued her education with post graduate work at the University of South Carolina, Clemson University, the Citadel, and Mercer University.  She loved teaching during her 25 year career and continued to serve children after retiring.  She was Red Cross certified as a neutral children’s advocate and became a Registered Mediator in Georgia.  She also served on the Citizen Review Panel for Juvenile Court in Monroe County, Georgia.  She loved playing golf and was President of the Ladies Golf Association at River North Country Club.  She was a member of the Eastern Star and a longtime devoted member of Park Memorial United Methodist Church, holding many different positions within the church.
