Marie Claire Content was born in Saint-Marc, Haiti, to Soline St. Firmin and Pierre Content at the Hospital of Nicholas on August 11, 1953. She was the oldest girl in the family. Marie Claire moved to Port-au-Prince to further her studies at “Lycee Des Jeune Filles” at a young age. Before immigrating to the United States in 1971, she gave her life to the Lord. God used her as the vessel to bring the rest of the family to church. In the United States, she juggled both school and worked to help support her family back home. Marie Claire was very active in the church. She was one of the founding members of the 1st French-speaking “Seventh Day Adventist Church in Manhattan. During one of her bible studies in a fellow member’s home, she met Mr. Fils Jean-Philippe, who became her husband of 45 years. From this union, they have three children Mondel, Carolyne, and Gabriel. While raising her family, she went to nursing school and graduated in 1989. She worked for 30 years as a Registered Nurse for the VA Medical Centers in New Jersey and retired in 2013.
Marie Claire was a loving wife, a Beloved Mother, a supporting sister, and a friend. She touched everyone she encountered in her life. Her calm demeanor invites all to approach her for advice, whether at church, work or family. She always gives good advice and words of encouragement that are uplifting.
