Marie Andrea Areus of Roselle, NJ died at Trinitas Hospital in Elisabeth, NJ at the age of 75. She was born in Dessaline, L’abronite on November 16th, 1945 to Mrs. Venicia Thermondfils & Mr. Joseph Areus Dort. Marie was raised in Sanoix and later went off to school in Ocelle Pierre Louis in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. From Haiti she moved to Canada for a short period of time before settling in the United States in 1971.  During her settlement in the United States, she conceived her pride and joy, Ased Pierre Louis.

For 20 years, Andrea was a reliable hard worker at Pathmark where she retired in 2009. A faithful member of her church community her love for God showed in all that she did. She devoted her time to work for the Lord as a missionary in Haiti and in other foreign countries helping children without parents attend school.  Andrea was loved by all her family and earned the nickname Maren because she was a Godmother to all. She loved her Dunkin Donuts coffee and could be spotted with a warm cup and muffin on a regular basis. Andrea was thoughtful and caring. Every time I travelled from California to spend time with her, she would make sure I did not leave empty handed. As a former Avon affiliate, she would sometimes give me bottles of lotions and deodorants to take home; other times, she would cook me legume and rice. In fact, just this past July she sent me two bottles of lotions and a bowl of rice and stew spinach. I called her to thank her for the food and all she was worried about it is that the food was too salty. I told her it was delicious but she wouldn’t hear it. That’s the kind of person she was; kind, gracious, humble, loving. A gentle soul. Someone who put others first. A special person. Someone I love very much.
