Mrs. Marie Annette McClendon Smith, 86, a resident of 1300 E. Kivett Dr., died Monday, June 6, 2005, at her residence.
Mrs. Smith, the daughter of John and Della Smith McClendon, was born January 5, 1919 in Wadesboro. There she attended the public schools. She continued her education at Johnson C. Smith University, Charlotte. For most of her adult life she was a resident of High Point, where she was a retired presser at Master Kleen Dry Cleaners, and a member at Word of Life Tabernacle.
Her parents, four brothers, and one sister, all preceded her in death.
Surviving relatives include one son, James Edward Smith and wife, Lillie Marie; two daughters, Gwendolyn M. Crone and husband, Dennis, and Barbara Washington, all of High Point; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, other relatives and numerous friends.
