Marianna Jeffers, 99, passed away on February 20, 2017 surrounded by her family and friends.
She was lifelong resident of Gallia County, but spent the last five years in Columbus. She was born on February 9, 1918, in Gallia County to the late Leonard and Ruby Saunders.
She was married for 60 years to Kenneth Nibert Jeffers, who preceded her in death in 1996. Two of her children also preceded her in death, Tharon Jeffers and Larry Jeffers.
Marianna retired from the Gallipolis State Institute after 15 years of devoted service. Her passions included gardening, canning, cooking, farming, and community activities.
Two brothers, Paul Saunders of Bidwell, Ohio and Robert Saunders of Sacramento, California, survive her. She is also survived by three of her children, Joan Phillips (David Smith), Sue Crowley (Jim), and Clara McClung; seven grandchildren, Jay Phillips (Mary), Kelli Leinbaugh (Stephen), Carmen Crowley (Bill Brittan), Jason Crowley, Katrina Jackson (Joel), Tiffany Owens (Dustin), Lisa Jeffers; eight great-grandchildren, Stephanie Leinbaugh, Gabrielle Leinbaugh, Kenneth Smith, Marcus Phillips, Jade Yarchuk, Lila Rose Phillips, Lilly Owens, Maddison Owens; and one great-great-grandchild, Nathan Geiger.
Her warm loving spirit touched the lives of many people as she held all her loved ones in the palm of her hand. She will continue to live on in our hearts and be our guiding light.
