Marian B. (Zigmont) Greene, 88, a longtime Newington resident, died peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, at Middlesex Memorial Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late John W. Greene. Born and brought up in Kensington, she was daughter of the late Joseph and Eva (Savage) Zigmont. Marian and John raised their family in Newington and she was a member of St. Mary’s Church. She loved to cook for her family and friends and was a member of the Newington Garden Club. She enjoyed swimming during summers spent at Highland Lake in Winsted, and also enjoyed winters at their home in Largo, FL. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she leaves two sons and two daughters, Deborah Kolman and her husband John of Middletown, John C. Greene and his wife Kathy of Wallingford, Patrick Greene and Heather Greene, both of Meriden; six grandchildren Pam, Wes, Erin, Ashley, Josh and Kaylee; and a great granddaughter Addison. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her dear sister Ann Tanukus, four brothers Joe, John, Ed, and Paul Zigmont, her niece Dorrie Haberson, and nephew Bobby Zigmont.
