Maria Mercedes Spinoso Thompson, 58, of Troutman, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 24, 2017 after fighting a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
Maria was born on April 4, 1959 in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico. Maria dedicated much of her life to education. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from LSU and worked as a CPA. She enjoyed teaching at Third Creek Elementary for over 10 years and also taught ESL at Mitchell Community College in Mooresville. She will always be remembered for being a loving and caring person.
She is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Tommy Thompson; mother, Josefina Spinoso; son, David Thompson, sisters, Josie Spinoso, Delfie (Dell) Oliver, and Angie (Chris) Beauregard. She was preceded in death by her father, Jose G. Spinoso.
