Marguerite Alice Sterrett was born on August 24, 1931 in Denver, Colorado to Marshall Everette Navarro and Alberta Doris Dorsey. Not entering this world alone, she was the first twin born with Marshall, Jr. and the first of four children born to this union. She spent many precious moments with her siblings Marshall, Jr., Phillip, Sharon, and Anthony. They so lovingly nicknamed her, Margie. She completed her formal education at South High School in Denver, Colorado. During those times, Marguerite and Marshall, Jr. were a tap dancing sensation. Gracefully performing on stage, Sharon remembers, Fred Astaire coming into town and asking Marguerite and Marshall to travel with him as he performed all over the country and in many movies; however, she had met the love of her life, Wendell J. Sterrett, and refused to leave him behind. In 1948, Wendell and Marguerite were joined in holy matrimony. They were blessed with eight children, Lawrence, Brenda, Charles, Vicki, Roy, Preston, Terry, and Ted. She was adamant about the children doing something, often telling them, “You are not going to just sit around here all day and do nothing, get your butt up.
