She grew up in Kansas City, La Grange, IL, and Milwaukee, WI, along with her brother, Wallace (Bud), and sister, Sarah Jane. She graduated from high school in Milwaukee and attended Lyons Township Community College. She married Kenneth E. Konig on September 7, 1940.
