Margene Janette Selby, age 91, of Rensselaer passed away at her residence Wednesday August 29, 2012.
Margene was born on May 30, 1921 in Rensselaer to the late Chester Joseph Sigman and Ethel Faith (Hurley).
Margene thru her life had been a resident of Chicago, South Holland, IL. and Rensselaer, Indiana Margene was a graduate of Rensselaer High School Class of 1940. For 12 years she was owner and operator of Tiffany’s Coiffure in Lansing, IL. She had also had a beauty shop out of her home and had managed numerous other beauty shops. She was a former member of the Bethany Reformed Church in Roseland, IL. She was a member of the Rensselaer Ladies Literary Club. She enjoyed bowling and horse back riding. She dearly loved her family and friends. It gave her great joy entertaining with them.
Margene is survived by two sons, Thomas Robert (Phoebe) Selby of Crest Hill, IL and Clifford Ray (Elsie) Selby of Rensselaer, grandmother of 6, Aaron, Justin, Vanessa, Lisa, Dana, and Rachel, great-grandmother of 7, Tyler, Evelyn, Erik, Maya, Vanessa, Wrigley and Brante. Margene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold Everette Selby who passed away in 1982, an eldest son, James Roy Selby and two brothers, Chester R. and George M. Sigman.
