Margaret (Peggy) was born on April 15, 1948 in Shanghai, China.  She attended Escola Camoes (Portuguese Community School) and graduated from St. Mary’s Canossian College in Hong Kong.  She worked as the Executive Secretary at the Hong Kong Tourist Association and later moved to the United States in 1974. Amongst her numerous career engagements, she was a Legal Secretary and Office Manager for many years at a prestigious law firm, first in San Francisco and then in Washington DC.

Peggy was actively involved in the Alameda Welfare Council and served as a volunteer with many charitable organizations including the Parish of St. Philip Neri – St. Albert the Great in Alameda.  Peggy loved to travel the world.  She was an avid reader and a Sodoku master.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her sister Lolita (Lola) and niece Ashley, her brother Jerry and wife Cathy and nephews Aaron, Gabriel and Zachary.  Peggy will also be remembered by several nieces and nephews: Marcus and Wendy Gaan, Len and Lou Gaan, Albert and Helen Gaan, Richard Gaan, Anthony Gaan, Diana and Jose Crestejo, Patricia (pre-deceased) and William Runyan, Virginia and Warren Seitz, Kathy Cheung, Madeline and Bernard Blanco, Douglas Baptista, Vincent and Miriam Baptista, and Michael and Kelly Baptista.

Our family would like to express thanks for the many helpers and well-wishers, especially the wonderful help and care provided during this difficult time by the Hospice of East Bay.
