Margaret Virginia Thoburn, died December 22, 2017 in Castle Rock, Colorado at the age of 89. She is survived by her husband, Russell Eugene Thoburn; two daughters, Kathleen Parker and her husband James Feltis, and Sandra Shepherd and her husband Howard Preston Shepherd; a son, Robert Forrest Thoburn; three granddaughters and four great grandchildren; two brothers, David Benjamin Kurtzer, and John Richard Kurtzer. She is preceded in death by her father Robert Harold Kurtzer; her mother Margaret Isabelle Kurtzer. She was the sister of Mary Allice Kler; and her brothers Robert Gene Kurtzer, Kenneth Dale Kurtzer, James Harold Kurtzer, and Charles William Kurtzer. Marge was born 25 October 1928 in her home near Haxtun, CO. She attended McKelry Elementary School (a one room school near Paoli, Colorado), High Schools in Haxton and Holyoke, and graduated from South High School in Denver. She attended colleges at Colorado State College of Education at Greeley, CO; University of Colorado at Denver; Eastern New Mexico University at Clovis, NM; and Troy State University at Montgomery, AL. After high school she worked in Denver at Western Electric, General Motors Acceptance Corporation, Argo Oil, and Denver University. In 1955 she married Russell and they began a life in the Air Force. During this time, they and their three children had duty assignments in Colorado, South Carolina, France, Germany, Alabama, California, Rhode Island, Idaho, New Mexico, Ohio, and Virginia. During this time, Russ spent assignments in Korea, Vietnam, and Thailand (twice). While Russ was gone on these assignments, Marge and the children lived in Denver and Clovis, New Mexico. While stationed in Ohio, Marge worked for the Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. In 1983, they returned to Denver where they resided until 2015 when they moved to Castle Rock, Colorado.
