Margaret R. Machalski, 92, of Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center, South Bend, formerly of Brooktrails Drive, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2005, at 1:08 PM, at Holy Cross.

Margaret was born on December 29, 1912, in Cass County, Michigan, to the late John and Wanda (Niezgodski) Przybysz. On April 17, 1937, in South Bend, she married Henry R. Machalski, who preceded her in death on August 20, 1992. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Piasecki and four brothers, Mitchell, Clem, Theodore and Roman Przybysz.

Mrs. Machalski is survived by her daughter, Joan M. Beesley of Granger, Indiana; two grandchildren, Brenda (Dr. Charles) Hurst of Chesterton, Indiana and Dr.

A beautiful woman, wife, and mother, she was always friendly and kind to strangers as well as those she had known all of her life. She embraced her religion and was a parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church for over 40 years. Margaret was a former employee of the Singer Corporation. Upon marriage she took up residency in Chicago for the next five years, while her husband studied tool and die making. They returned to South Bend and later established the Atlas Tool and Die Company.

Margaret loved fishing with her husband in Minnesota and at their cottage on Donnell Lake. They loved to dance and won many contests with their dancing abilities. Margaret was an accomplished and talented seamstress, gardener, and loved cooking for family and friends.

As her age progressed, illness set in but she was brave even though she endured much suffering. During the last years of her life she became close to the staff on the seventh floor of Memorial Hospital, her doctors, her caregivers, and to the staff at Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was grateful for their love and support.
