Winsted: Margaret F. ‘Peggy’ (Carroll) Marolda, 85, of 69 Wetmore avenue, passed away on Sunday August 2, 2009, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. She was the beloved wife of Ted Marolda to whom she was married for 64 years. Mrs. Marolda was born in Winsted on August 30, 1924, the daughter of the late Margaret Ostrowsey Carroll and Francis Carroll. She was a graduate of St. Anthony School and a 1942 graduate of The Gilbert School in Winsted. She was a life long member of St. Joseph’s Parish. As well as being a mother and homemaker, she was an active volunteer for the American Red Cross from the 1950’s into the 1980’s, the last 10 years of which she was the Director of the Northwest Corner Blood Bank, and was named the American Red Cross Volunteer of the year in 1972. She was active in the Catholic Womens’ Club, involved in the Girl Scouts for many years, and enjoyed being a member of the Winsted Club before it’s demise. Besides her husband, Ted, she is survived by three sons, Dr. Ted Marolda and his wife SueAnn, of Norfolk, Lawrence Marolda and his wife Eunice, of Winsted, David Marolda of Providence, RI; two daughters, Peggy Marolda Halloran of Winsted and Carol Marolda Nardi and her husband Joseph of Barkhamsted; 11 grandchildren, T.J., Gretchen, Christopher and Joseph Marolda, Meggie, Abby and Mitch Halloran, Rebecca, Jenna, Julia and Joseph Nardi; and two great grandddughters, Madison and Olivia Marolda. She was predeceased by a sister, Mabel Bahre Carroll.
