Margaret Mae “Peg” Jackson, 98, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2014, in Copley, Ohio, from complications of Alzheimers disease. Born on January 8, 1916 to Alonzo and Mae (Barthold) Reiss, Peg lived all her life in Bethlehem, PA, until October 2003, when she moved to Akron, Ohio to be closer to her son, Dr. Thomas J. Jackson and his family. She was one of the first residents of Sumner on Ridgewood, now Concordia at Sumner, when it opened in October 2003. Peg was the widow of Dr. Thomas E. Jackson, professor of mechanical engineering and thermodynamics at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, with whom she shared over 60 years of loving marriage until he passed away in l998. They were involved in many community activities, including the Bonsai Association of the Lehigh Valley. They helped establish Bethlehems Japanese Garden of Serenity adjacent to City Hall. She was an avid gardener, specializing in roses.
