Margaret L. Bailey, 99, of Newton died on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Park Centre.
Margaret, the daughter of John and Ida (Stine) Koder, was born on June 8, 1922 in Draper, Iowa. She grew up and attended country school in Draper. In 1940, Margaret was united in marriage with James Frank Marshall and they were blessed with three children, Mary, Karen, and Robert. They made their home in Newton. Margaret later married Lawson Bailey in 1960. Margaret worked for over 33 years at Skiff Medical Center; first as a nurse’s aide and later in General Supply, retiring in 1986. She was very involved in the community being a member of the VFW Auxiliary, WRC, Moose Lodge, Kellogg Legion Auxiliary, and the Golden Agers. She enjoyed playing BINGO at the VFW and cards with her children and grandchildren. She also was a talented cook and baker. Margaret loved music and was known for her generosity. She also enjoyed the time she spent at Willowbrook.
Margaret is survived by her son, Robert “Bob” (Linda) Marshall of Newton; son-in-law, Jim Henning of Kellogg; eight grandchildren, Rodney (Jaime) Marshall, Gene (Carrie) Marshall, Gary (Carla) Thompson, Dave (Pam) Thompson, Steve Thompson, Jimmy Henning, Rich Samuelson, and Bret (Melissa) Samuelson; her 16 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawson Bailey; two daughters, Karen (Bill) Samuelson and Mary Henning; great-grandson, Tyler Marshall; sister, Marie Perry; and her brothers, Hubert Koder, Elvin Koder, and Chester Koder.
