Margaret Hancock

July 29, 1942 – June 18, 2021

Margaret Mary Michael Hancock of Sheridan, Arkansas was born July 29, 1942 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas the daughter of the late Edward Joseph Michael, Sr. and Blanche Carr Michael.

She attended Annunciation Academy in Pine Bluff through 8th grade, then graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1960.  She was married to the love of her life, Hershel Raymond Hancock for 50 years before he passed away in 2015.

She worked at Grant County Bank when they moved to Sheridan in 1970.  Margaret enjoyed the opportunity her job at the bank gave her to meet so many people.  She retired as the superintendent’s secretary for Sheridan Public Schools where she was loved by all who knew her.  She always had a kind word for others and was known as the person to go to for answers.   Her favorite part of working at the school was that it enabled her to be involved with the school sports activities where she could watch the games and interact with the kids.

She loved spending time with her family, especially her four grandchildren.  You could often find her at one of their sports games, recitals or grandparents’ breakfast.  Margaret’s favorite hobbies were traveling with family and friends, going to shows, shopping and playing games.  She was an active member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
