Margaret E. (“Eudine”) Smith, 95, of New Smyrna Beach, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2021, in Orange City, Florida, with her daughter, Margaret, and son-in-law, John, by her side. She was born in Eau Gallie, Florida, on April 13, 1926, to Walter James Edge and Georgie Bianca Pierce Edge, and moved to New Smyrna Beach in 1946. She was a devoted wife of 73 years, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother, and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Eudine and her husband, “Eddie”, owned and operated Smith’s Standard Oil Station and Smith’s Heating Oil in New Smyrna Beach, at 700 North Dixie Freeway (U.S. 1), on the comer of Wayne Avenue, from 1953 to 1980, where she served as office manager and bookkeeper.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward (“Eddie”) A. Smith, Jr., and son, Millard James Smith, her beloved parents, brother, William Edge, and sister, Grace Edge Maxwell.
Survivors include her daughter, Margaret S. Crowther (John), of Orange City; grandchildren: Jennifer Crowther Kelly (Michael), Scottsdale, Arizona; John Edward Crowther (Gigi), DeLand; Thomas Millard Crowther (Molly), Orange City; great grandchildren: Brandon M. Kelly (Shannon), Glendale, Arizona; Kathryn M. Anderson (Ben), Bremerton, Washington; Ethan T. Crowther, Orange City; Dylan B. R. Crowther, Orange City; Tyler Ryan (Kate), Orange City; and Jaylen Byrne, DeLand; great great grandchildren: Logan Kelly and Avery Kelly, Glendale, Arizona; sister, Hazel Edge Pankratz, McGregor, Texas; and by many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in both Florida and Tennessee.
