Mrs. Margaret “Peggy” Allan-O’Brien
(nee Mullen), 74, passed away on Thursday February 3, 2011 in the St. Michael’s Medical Center, Newark.

Margaret was born and raised in Belfast Northern Ireland. She came to this country in 1953 and settled in Kearny. She moved to Lyndhurst in 1998.

She has worked at the Kearny Public Library for 20 years and was currently serving as the Senior Library Assistant.

She was a proud member of St. Stephen’s Church Choir in Kearny. She also sang as a member of the Pastoral Care Team at Clara Maas Continuing Care Center in Kearny. Mrs. O’Brien was a member of the Xaverian Guild.

Mrs. O’Brien is survived by her husband Peter A. O’Brien, Jr. She was the mother of Robert Allan and his wife Joyce, Stephen Allan and his wife Janet and Scott Allan and his wife Carrie. She was the dear sister of May Sczepanski and her husband Paul. She was the grandmother of Stephen William Allan and Heather Elizabeth Allan. She was the step grandmother of Sarah Owens.

She was the step-mother of Mary E. Shortridge, Margaret Hart, Peter A., III, James J., Ellen P., Thomas M., Robert F.X., and Catherine J. O’Brien. She was also survived by 13 step-grandchildren and one step-great grandchild. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
