NEWINGTON – Margaret “Peggy” Counihan, 64, of Newington, beloved wife of Robert Counihan, departed this life on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at New Britain Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Peggy was born on October 1, 1946 in Meriden, CT, daughter of the late Ellie and Alice (Olson) Mottram. She graduated class of 1964 from Lyman Hall High School and later obtained a bachelors degree in English from UCONN. After they met in the marching band at UCONN, she married Bob on April 26, 1969 in Branford and they shared over 41 years of marriage together. She retired this past year after working over 35 years at the Lucy Robbins Welles Library in Newington.
