With great sadness, we announce the passing of Margaret Aguilar Cortez, 66, who was born and raised in Roswell, New Mexico. On Wednesday, January 12, 2022, she passed away in her hometown.
On June 11, 1955, Margaret was born to Ejinio P. Aguilar and Encarnacion “Concha” Almanza Aguilar in Roswell, New Mexico, where she graduated from Roswell High School. She was the loving wife of Antonio B. Cortez, whom she married on July 9, 1976. They had four children, who blessed them with beautiful grandchildren.
Those left to eternally cherish and treasure Margaret’s loving memory are her children: Sonia Cortez-Cordero and husband Benjamin G. Cordero, Suelane Cortez-Rubio and husband Manuel R Rubio III; Antonio “Tony” Cortez Jr. and wife Sandy Cortez; grandchildren: (Sonia’s children) Colleen Cordero, Samantha Cordero, and Benjamin Cordero Jr, (Suelane’s children) Manuel R. Rubio IV, Maya I. Rubio, Lorenzo F. Rubio, (Tony’s children) Lydia Sanchez, Annalicia M. Cortez, Antonio “Tony” Cortez III, Marcos Cortez mothered by Andrea Cortez, (Francisco’s son) Francisco S. De la Rosa-Cortez; six great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Trini Renteria; Maria De la Cruz and Consuelo Aguilar; several nieces and nephews; a special close friend, Leticia Perez; and so many friends and family who she dearly loved.
Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved son, Francisco S. Cortez; parents: Ejinio P. Aguilar & Encarnacion “Concha”Almanza Aguilar; brothers: Vincent Aguilar, Jessie Aguilar, Edward Aguilar, Gene Aguilar, Francisco Aguilar; and her sisters: Amelia Fabila, Concha Larez, and Luisa Martinez.
