Marcia Ann Wright, 90, formerly of Wenona, passed away at 10:20 PM Thursday (May 5, 2016) at Unity Point Methodist Hospital in Peoria.
She was born to the late Frank and Naomi (Schmidt) Nolkemper on March 18, 1926 in Quincy, IL. She attended Quincy schools and graduated from Quincy High School.
Marcia taught English and Latin for several years at Wenona, IL where she met her husband Wayne Wright. The couple married on August 15, 1948 in Quincy, IL. He preceded her in death in 1998.
Marcia and Wayne lived in Wenona, IL for many years where they made many lifelong friendships. In the 1960’s Marcia and Wayne moved to Crystal Lake, IL where Marcia taught English for many years. She was the chairperson of the English Department at Crystal Lake High School.
Following her retirement, Wayne and Marcia enjoyed many winters at their Florida home in Sarasota..
She was an accomplished bridge player and enjoyed playing cards with her friends. She enjoyed traveling and her last trip was to Egypt where the highlight of her trip was riding on a camel.
Marcia leaves two nieces to mourn her passing, Janice (Ronald) Junker of Varna, IL and Carol Kreider of Avon, IL.
