Marcel J. Belzer, 88, of Weslaco, TX and formerly of Jacksonville, IL died Sunday, May 17, 2009, at the Weslaco Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Weslaco. She was born June 22, 1920, in Jacksonville, IL; the daughter of Lee and Lillian Angel Wolke. She married Clarence F. Belzer on December 7, 1941, in St. Charles, MO and he preceded in death on January 21, 1971.

She is survived by a son, Max Edward â??Edâ? Belzer (wife, Connie) of Weslaco, TX; two granddaughters, Lorra Emma (husband, Nicholas) of Leeâ??s Summitt, MO and Michelle Cabrera (husband, Gustavo) of Weslaco, TX; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Doris Tomlovich, Eileen Rush, and Bernadine Hyatt, and by three brothers, John â??Peteâ? (surviving wife, Shirley of Concord), Max, and Bruce Wolke (surviving wife, Dorothy of Arleta, CA).

Mrs. Belzer was a 1938 graduate of Jacksonville High School and was employed for many years as a secretary and bookkeeper for Welborn Electric prior to her retirement. She was a member of First Christian Church, the American Business Women Association, and a volunteer at Lewis Memorial Christian Village in Springfield.
