Manfred Anthony “Manny” Rower, 75, passed away February 8, 2013 in Florence, CO. He was born March 12, 1937 in New York, NY to Alfred and Katharina (Messmer) Rower who immigrated to the U.S in the 1920’s. Manfred was a veteran of the U.S. Army. After graduating from the State University of New York in Oswega, Manny worked as a contract mechanic teacher for the U.S. Military. He taught 10 years in Spain and 15 years in Germany. On January 31, 1997, Manny was united in marriage to Waltraud Holzapfel in Denmark. Manfred enjoyed reading, playing tennis, watching soccer, listening to 1950-1960’s country music, and collecting militaria. These activities were capped off by a love to travel. He served on the Williamsburg Town Council. Manny is survived by his wife, Waltraud; step-son, Ralf and his wife Sonja; grandson, Niki; nieces, Nancy and Sophia; and cousin Helen. He is also survived by close friends, John and Pam Maxwell, Steve and Debbie Harrison, Mike and Carol Pearcy, Joe and Edie Combs, Max and Cynthia McDonald, and numerous other friends in Europe and throughout the United States.
