Mamie “Mary” Halik, 92, widow of Wiktor Halik, died on December 13, 2014. She was born in Nanticoke, PA on December 6, 1922 to the late Anthony and Lillian (Klose) Gesecki. She lived in New Britain for 58 years and spent the last two years of her life in Bristol. Mamie spent her life selflessly caring for others. After her father was injured in an accident, Mamie left school to help support her parents and younger siblings. She continued her role as caregiver to her husband and children who were blessed to receive her unwavering love and support. Mamie had a wonderful sense of humor, and a contagious and slightly mischievous smile. Her family always delighted in her warm laughter and surprisingly strong hugs. The joys of her life were her three grandchildren. Many hours were devoted to playing Hide n Seek, Candyland, and Monopoly with her “little darlings”. Mamie’s endless patience, her unshakeable faith and special brand of unconditional love will always be remembered by those who knew her. Mamie was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in New Britain. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Henry and Edmund. Mamie is survived by her children, Joseph Halik and his wife, Linda, of Bristol, Ann Marie Reuter and her husband, Charles, of Granby, and Jeanne Kostuk and her husband, Kenn, of Bristol. She leaves her sister Florence Schaefer, her sister-in-law Mary Ann Gesecki, and a special nephew Henry Gesecki. Also remaining are her cherished grandchildren, Alicia Reuter and Matthew Reuter of New York City, and Victoria Roos of Bristol. Mamie’s family would like to thank the staff of Sheriden Woods for their care and compassion.
