Mamie Lee Henry Montgomery was born Sept. 10th 1931 in Shongaloo, Louisiana to the Late Obie Henry and Ida Henry-Ward. She was the second oldest of 10 children.

She received her education and Graduated High School from the McMittress High School in Columbia County (Emerson), Arkansas. In her high school years Mamie was known to be an exceptional seamstress and won First Place in the State fair where she embroidered a Peacock on a sheet that could be seen on either side.

Mamie received the gift of the Holy Ghost as a teenager at Washington Chapel C.O.G.I.C and later backslid (in her own words) for calling one of her sisters a Bastard.

Mamie moved to Indianapolis, IN in 1958 where she would meet her “Good Man”, Amos ‘Big Man’ Montgomery They were united in marriage, Dec. 19th, 1960. Her husband adored and spoiled her.

She was employed at Stegg’s Pharmacy and Postal office and Mercy Ln Drug Store for many years before having to go on disability in 1974.

Mo. Mamie departed this life on July 24th 2022 at the age of 90yrs 10months and 14days. She was preceded in death by her parents Obie Henry and Ida Henry-Ward. Husband Amos Montgomery, four sisters: Marth Henry, Annie Satterwhite, Linda Cooper, Marene Hoosier, four brothers: Huey P. Henry, Nathaniel Henry, Joseph Henry, and Charles R. Henry.

Mo. Mamie was never able to have children naturally, but God blessed her with children that she was able to raise and play an intricate part in their lives. She leaves to cherish her memories: one brother Obie “Slim” Henry Jr (Faye) of Houston, TX. Her loving niece/Daughter Jacqueline Henry Matheny who she loved affectionately, son in love Steven Matheny (fishing and basketball buddy), two grandchildren/ great nephew and niece, Steven Antonio Matheny and JaNelle Renee Matheny Jones, four great grandchildren, Javion L, Joy L, Ja’el L, and Jaxon L Jones, She also leaves to cherish bonus children Ray S Patrick, Wendy Bacon; Bonus grandchildren: Indiya Harrison, Daicee and Anna Patrick; Bonus Daughter in Law, Christy Harrison Patrick; Sister- in-laws/friends, Sarah Jane (Jan) Montgomery-English and Effie Henry.
