Mamie Collins, age 90, longtime resident of Milford and beloved wife to the late Charles C. Collins passed away on Monday September 24, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 12, 1922 in Patterson, NJ, she was the daughter of the late John and Lena Muriano. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and when making hats for her family, she would also make extras for those less fortunate that were unable to afford one. Mamie felt strongly about the dedication that the veterans gave to this country and in her dignified way honored them by giving them her home made blankets at the VA Hospital. Mamie was a wonderful person and a devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt to her loving family. She had warmth and an amazing sense of humor and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her two daughters; Mary Collins of West Haven and Cindy Bemis and her husband Fred also of West Haven; Four grandchildren Tori Saxer and her husband Phil, Kris Collins, Jessica and Christina Bemis; Two great grandchildren Madelyn and Laylah; her niece Anita as well as many more nieces and nephews.
