Malinda Kay “Mindy” Martin-Kemp, 50, of Jacksonville, died Sunday, February 27, 2011, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born May 3, 1960, in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of John B. and Christena “Tena” Rust Martin.

She is survived by her mother of Jacksonville; one daughter and two sons, Heather Angelo of Belleville, William “Billy” Angelo of Jacksonville, and Brandon Kemp of New Berlin; one grandson, Caleb Gallagher of Belleville; four sisters and two brothers, Cindy (Chris) Petty of Nocona, TX, John Albert Martin of Phenix City, AL, Terri Hammuck of Desloge, MO, Shawn Barks of Imperial, MO, Russ (Leslie) Montgomery of Sidney, NE, and Dody (Randy) Filipiak of Springfield, IL; and four nieces, Jessie Griggs of Nocona, TX, Mackenzie Martin of Phenix City, AL, and Brandi Pope and Hayley Barks, both of St. Louis. She was preceded in death by her father; and one son, Anthony “Tony” Martin Angelo.

Mindy was an LPN for Renal Advantage, Inc. in Springfield for several years, and she also worked at Memorial Medical Center. Prior to that she worked for Jacksonville School District #117 in the Special Education Department and had also cared for special needs children in her home. She was a member of Central Christian Church and was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan.
