Malcolm R. “Mac” Rote, 80, of Taneytown, died Sunday, November 7, 2021, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.  Born March 5, 1941 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Charlotte (Lego) Rote and Malcolm E. Rote.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Audrey Rote.

He retired in 1990 as a trooper for the Maryland State Police and later worked for the Dept. of Transportation.  He was a veteran of the Army and was a member of the Littlestown Eagles, Taneytown American Legion, VFW and Monocacy Masonic Lodge No. 203 AF & AM.  He was a former member of New Hope Fellowship Church and most recently attended Taneytown Baptist Church.  He enjoyed golfing, boating and hunting.

Besides his wife, he is survived by children Ridgely Rote (Jody) of Princess Anne, MD; Shelley Grimm (Chris) of Jonestown, PA; Becky Hawk (Scott) of Littlestown, PA; step-children Teresa Storey (Jeff) of Keymar; Michelle Murphey (Mike) of New Windsor and Michael Hively (Dani) of Lucketts, VA, former wife Kathleen Gorman of Taneytown.  Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a sister Nancy Kane.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 11, 2021 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
