Malcolm R. Didio, of Floyd, died Saturday, September 15, 2012, in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse, with his family at his side, from complications following surgery.

He was born in Flushing, NY, on May 31, 1938, to the late Robert and Madeline Bultman Didio, graduated from Manhattan College with a degree in Physics. He came to this area in 1961 to work at Rome Labs. Malcolm was united in marriage to the former Phyllis Reilly on October 22, 1961, in St. Mary’s Church, Flushing, NY.

He went on to establish businesses in manufacturing and antiques, and taught remedial math. He was a history buff and taught a War of 1812 course at MVILR. He was a member of the Rome/Floyd Residents Assn. He also served as Town Councilman and Supervisor of Floyd, and at one point ran the office of a State Assemblyman. He presently served on several Boards. He enjoyed traveling and visited all of the 50 states. He held a private pilot’s license and enjoyed flying as a hobby. He was a former member of the Rome Community Theater and the Rome Elks.

Malcolm is survived by his wife Phyllis, sister, Arlene D’Elia, sister in law and brother in law Sharon and William Faranda; 5 nieces and nephews and 8 grand nieces and nephews.
