Mattie Maebelle Holden Buckner, 89, of Raleigh, died Saturday evening March 8, 2008 at Universal Health Care. She was born in Franklin County, the daughter of the late Mary Julia Holden and Willie Roy Holden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry G. Buckner, Sr. in 1971; a twin brother, Thomas Holden and by a sister, Josephine Wiggins.
Mrs. Buckner worked at Camp Butner during World War II and afterwards took a job with the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles where she retired. Mrs. Buckner lived in Cary from 1955–1999, before moving to the Falls River Village of Assisted Living in Raleigh and later to Universal Health Care in Raleigh.
