Mae Moreland McCallie, 96, Rossville passed away at her home Monday, March 12, 2007, leaving this world to be at home with God. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Allen Lee McCallie, and brother, Harry Risner. She was a friend, mentor, storyteller, doctor, gourmet southern cook, and weatherman to all of her family and friends. The sparkle in her eyes and her easy laugh kept her young; her gentle wit and wisdom kept everyone coming back to hear her stories time after time. She had a love for work that didn’t fade with age and she was always quick to lend a helping hand to her neighbors. She will be greatly missed by her sisters, Helen Risner Wakefield, Watkins, MN, Frances Byrd Ray, Ft. Oglethorpe, Barbara Moreland Ramey, Ringgold; brother, Robert Risner, Battle Lake, MN; nieces, Laura Sue Byrd Allen, Lakeview, Debra Ramey Durnin, Knoxville; nephew, Steve Ramey, Ringgold; eleven great nieces and nephews, fourteen, great, great nieces and nephews, and a host of friends who claimed her as their “Aunt Mae”.
