Mable Louise LaPier Pate, 88, died on April 20, 2015 at Ansley Park Health & Rehabilitation in Newnan, GA. Mable was born on August 29, 1926 to Johnson and Ever Lee (Bean) LaPier in Sylacauga, AL. Mable married James Robert Pate on June 19, 1943 in Sylacauga; they were married 58 years. Mable worked several years for the Craddock Clinic and as a Bell telephone operator in Sylacauga. In 1959, James and Mable moved to GA where James was Terminal Manager of Floyd and Beasley Transfer Co. Mable worked alongside James for many years before they retired. Mable worked part-time for Publix Grocery stores for another 10 years. Mable is survived by two sons, Michael (Paula) Pate and Jerry (Debbie) Pate, her granddaughter Bethany Pate (Vincent) Sarrantonio, a great grandson, Jon Mark O’Morrow and two step – grandchildren, Mitchell Etheridge and Reese Cook; three nieces, Mrs. Anita (Charles) Poston, Mrs. Karen (Dr. Gregg) Clifford, Mrs. Paula (Russ) Williams. Mable is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and 2 brothers. Mable had many decades of long friendships, including two enduring bonds: Mrs. Gwendolyn Dees and Mrs. Bobby Carroll. It was the relationships Mable formed with family and friends that mattered to her most. Mable was fun and easy to know. Everyone who made her acquaintance were immediately made at ease and enjoyed the association. Mable’s family will miss her tremendously.
