Mabel Lee Brown, age 93 of Newnan, passed away May 30, 2020. She was born in Washington D.C. in 1926 to the late Park Lim Lee and Li Ping Chu. The third child of ten children, she grew up caring for many of her younger siblings even after she left home. During high school she joined the Civil Air Patrol and had a love of flying. She worked at the Bureau of Standards, the first physical science research laboratory of the federal government. This is where work was done on the design for the Bat, the first fully automated guided missile to be used successfully in combat. She married Arthur Conway Brown in 1949. They moved to New Orleans in 1954 when Arthur accepted a job as a pilot for Eastern Airlines. In 1964, they moved with Eastern to their new base in Atlanta, GA. She loved tennis and began running the Peachtree City Classic race, which she won in the 60 – 64 age group. She loved travel and was always ready to try something new and encouraged others to do the same. She is remembered for her positive attitude and her beautiful smile. She is survived by three sisters: Wilma Clark, Bertha Golkoski and Chime Lee; 4 children: Tony Brown, Tina Harris, Robert Brown, Ed Brown and two grandchildren: Park Harris and Bess Harris.
