Winsted: Mabel Bahre Carroll, 89, formerly of 70 Crescent St., died Thursday, October 16, 2008, at Laurel Hill Health Care Center. Born on February 11, 1919, in Canton, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Jenny (Ostrowsey) Bahre. When her mother succombed to the flu epidemic of 1918-1919, Mabel was informally adopted by her mother’s sister, Margaret (Ostrowsey) Carroll, and Mabel took the name of Carroll. Mabel was an excellent student at both St. Anthony School and was a graduate of The Gilbert School, Class of 1939. She worked at the Union Pin Company for most of her life and she was a life long communicant of St.
